THEFT & FRAUD

Internal theft, fraud and other serious abuses such as accounting and auditing irregularities affect everyone. In the most serious cases, the negative impact on a company’s reputation and financial well being can even lead to the loss of jobs. There is a way that everyone can help prevent these losses. If you become aware of theft, fraud or other abuses in the workplace - don’t ignore it.

Common examples of things which should be reported are:

• Theft of cash, merchandise, equipment or other misuse of company assets
• Accounting or auditing irregularities
• Kickbacks or conflicts of interest
• Fraudulent expense reports, refunds or insurance claims
• Embezzlement
• Destroying, altering or falsifying company documents
• Violations of government compliance regulations
• Intentional release of proprietary information

There are two steps everyone can take to prevent losses due to theft, fraud and abuse:

1. Use peer influence when possible
2. Report concerns as quickly as possible – to your Manager, or to the Human Resources Manager

Where you are concerned about confidentiality please contact Human Resources, who will discuss this with you.
