Customer Webcams & Recording Devices

With the growth of countless portable webcam and recording devices now available on the market, please be aware that an increasing number of people are either fitting them to their vehicles or even carrying them in person in order to record their journeys, their conversations or both.

In terms of our businesses, this has the potential to capture all kinds of comments and behaviour that (if we’re not doing the “right thing”) may show our business and activities in a poor light.

Examples include, but are not limited to;

  • Conversations between staff members whilst in a car on road test, whilst being diagnosed in the workshop or being appraised as part exchange (i.e. swearing, criticism of product, criticism of customers, criticism of other team members, comments in poor taste etc)
  • Style, speed or quality of staff driving on road tests
  • Promises made by team members to customers

Also, please ensure that under no circumstances must a customer’s recording equipment/device be turned off, removed from the vehicle, footage/recordings deleted or tampered with.

Please ensure that team members are made aware of this growing trend, and ensure that we do all we can to avoid the many pitfalls that an unhelpful recording or video can cause both the individual staff member/s and the company as a whole.
