Subject: Our Duty of Care to Visitors and Staff

As an employer and retail orientated business that welcomes many customers and suppliers/contractors to the various sites, it is critical that we provide a safe environment at all times.

In order to preserve a safe environment in our businesses, please give consideration to the following examples, though this is not a definitive list;

  • Avoid temporary displays where cables and wires may cause a trip hazard

  • Ensuring that walkways and stairways are clear from obstructions at all times

  • Ensure that any displays such as Christmas lightning has been PAT Tested, and is positioned safely so that it cannot be easily reached or touched, and that stair banisters and hand rails are avoided as display props at all times.

  • Ensure that hazard signs are used if floors are being cleaned/mopped.

  • Ensure that smoking is only carried out in the designated smoking areas at the appropriate times agreed by management

  • Ensure that any staff driving vehicles onsite, do so at a slow speed in order to avoid the potential for an accident.

Any failure to provide a safe environment could cause serious injury to our staff and visitors, and render us liable for costly insurance claims.

Please ensure that we stay safe at all times.
